Brought to you by NextChapter and Fastcase, The Bankruptcy Week Summit is a live virtual conference taking place from May 11 to May 15, 2020. This event was created for attorneys and legal professionals of any practice area who are looking to increase their knowledge of bankruptcy law. At the conference, you'll hear from leaders of bankruptcy law and legal tech address some of the industry’s most pressing problems, including the state of bankruptcy.

The Reason Behind Bankruptcy Week.

The coronavirus pandemic has severely effected businesses and individuals alike.

We've witnessed businesses closing their doors temporarily, or for good, making it nearly impossible to remain profitable. In fact, 1 in 4 small businesses has closed (temporarily) because of the pandemic. And when businesses close, people lose their jobs. 17 million people filed for unemployment over a three week period, and this surge in claims is overwhelming the system. As a result, many are unable to get ahold of their state's unemployment office or are experiencing delays in receiving benefits.

It's no secret that coronavirus has caused a large financial strain on Americans and businesses, and many of those affected will soon turn to bankruptcy for a fresh start. As an attorney, you can help these parties by practicing bankruptcy law. Adding this much need practice area to your law firm will allow you to stay afloat during the anticipated recession, and give you the opportunity to directly serve people in financial distress.

What will Bankruptcy Week cover?

If you're looking to learn bankruptcy law, attending our five-day virtual conference is a great place to start. Bankruptcy Week will cover what the industry looks like today, including bankruptcy law courses, discussions about current events, and managing your law firm.

Attorneys and paralegals will provide guidance on how to handle business cases, the different bankruptcy code chapters and guidelines, and bifurcation. These legal professionals will help you start practicing with the right tools as well, including bankruptcy systems and resources presented by librarians and attorneys.
