NextChapter released its new user interface, and we’re excited to tell you about the updates! These changes reflect our commitment to continuously improving the platform so that your job is easier. Key changes include a new design, more progress tracking features and navigation options, and increased mobility, among many others.

Improvements to the user interface

We have an entirely new look to improve the user interface and experience. Key features in the new look include:

  • A new Create a Case button. This new feature gives you the ability to create a case from any page you’re working on in the app. You no longer have to stop what you’re doing to create a case.
  • Interactive progress bar. This new feature is especially helpful because you can view and track your progress within each stage of the process. Just click on the toolbar or in settings on the case dashboard to change it.
  • Property analysis pie charts. Pie charts are simple, quick ways to view your data. This new way to view property analysis will help you speed up the process and grasp the information instantly.
  • More navigation options. You now can view your navigation options where you please—at the top, side, or bottom of your screen. These navigation options help you get through the process faster.

Our new look

In addition to more streamlined features, NextChapter also received a facelift this winter. The new-look incorporates new colors and fonts, giving the platform more consistency and an overall cohesive design.

You don’t have to worry about learning how to navigate a new tool, since underneath the new look is the platform you’ve come to know and love.

NextChapter mobility improvements

You can now enjoy more mobility with NextChapter, using the app from any tablet, including the iPad, as well as via the Android mobile app. Modern attorneys are always on the move, so the ability to access your cases, client files, and schedule in your pocket is a big improvement for your law firm.

The platform has been optimized so that the mobile version gives you much of the same capability you’d have on your desktop.

Other new features to highlight

Saving a non-bankruptcy case. You now have the option to save non-bankruptcy cases with a shell case that has our CRM features, including NextMessage, dates, and document storage. You can now integrate all of your practice’s casework with this new feature in NextChapter, making your life easier and saving you time. Enjoy this benefit for free! We’re also working on a feature that allows you to customize by practice area and add the help of a virtual paralegal.

Clicking between claims. Another great new feature in NextChapter is the ability to click between claims when you’re editing. This helps you save time opening and closing each one when you have to reference data from another one. This feature streamlines the editing process for you.

Example test cases. Sometimes it’s hard to know where to start. That’s why we’ve added a feature where you can view an example test case when you sign up for NextChapter, giving you an idea of what a full bankruptcy case will look like when all the data is filled in.

MyChapter invite. The new feature in MyChapter invites gives you the option to select between emails for the MyChapter invite, making sure you’re getting it to a clients’ preferred email address. This gets you their information faster and makes sure they actually receive the invite.

Sofa & MT review progress bar. The SOFA and Means Test Review sections can get complicated, so we’ve made it easier with our recent updates. As you move through the sections, the app will now automatically keep track of your progress. Each section will be checked off for you, helping you ensure you don’t miss anything. This feature also verifies that you have completed the review for reference.

More local forms and Chapter 13 plans. We now have more Chapter 13 plans and local forms, including 11 new local forms, the new Chapter 13 plans WAEB, MTB, and NMB. We’ve also added improvements to the filing process with enhanced filing times.

Batch assign and reassign notices. You now have greater control over which cases court notices are assigned to. You can even assign and reassign multiple notices at once. This gives you more flexibility and power when using the tool.

Pick up continued hearing notices. This enhancement allows you to pick up this additional notice type so you can stay aware of any continued hearings. You can add the new hearing date, and we’ll mark it as “continued” in your calendar.

Enable or disable ECF filing capabilities. This change is a new safeguard in NextChapter. The primary attorney/account administrator now has the ability to control each and every user who has access to the ECF filing. It’s just a fact that certain users shouldn’t have that kind of access, so this feature allows you to have more protection.
