Migration Success Story
In September, NextChapter was acquired by Fastcase. This acquisition was a huge win for both Fastcase and NextChapter, as well as the entire legal industry! Now that we're on the same team, the sky is the limit. Together, Fastcase and NextChapter will make practicing the law even smarter by broadening our form filing capabilities into other practice areas. The acquisition had a lot of moving parts. Both the Fastcase and NextChapter teams worked diligently to spread the news, support users and migrate Fastcase BK subscriber data into NextChapter.

The transition was a major success because of the people. NextChapter and Fastcase team members stepped up, making the announcement and transition possible. As a part of the acquisition, NextChapter joined Fastcase, becoming its forms automation and filing software for the bankruptcy practice area. All active Fastcase BK subscribers were migrated to NextChapter's application to benefit from the intuitive workflows, case management tools, and faster case preparation. Over two months, we migrated hundreds of Fastcase BK users and 99% of their data!

Now let's recognize everyone who played a role in the acquisition from beginning to end!

Starting with the Announcement

Since we were migrating Fastcase BK users to NextChapter's software, communicating openly was vital to the success of the transition. The NextChapter team developed a marketing campaign around the acquisition, which included a press release, informative emails, and social media posts. Our goal was to be as transparent and informative about the entire process. Kudos to Janine Sickmeyer and Jaime Houssami for creating transparent and informative collateral about the acquisition, as well as specific information for Fastcase BK users about the migration.

Just after we released the news, we held an AMA webinar live from Fastcase's headquarters in DC. A huge thank you to Ed Walters, Kevin Gustafson, Karli Hannan and Mandy Ballinger for answering difficult questions, addressing concerns and further informing users about the acquisition!

The Fastcase team took a personalized approach by calling every Fastcase BK subscriber within 1 week of the acquisition announcement. During these calls, Erin Page, Natalie Dowd, Connor McMahon, Mike Leme, Josh Martin, and Liz Morgan informed the users about the transition and introduced them to their NextChapter contact. Whenever a Fastcase BK user had a concern about the switch, Kevin Gustafson and Karli Hannan took over to reassure them.

The Migration

Moving subscriber data to NextChapter was no small feat. We worked together to ensure all Fastcase BK user data was transferred into NextChapter accurately and safely. Kevin Gustafson and Natalie Dowd at Fastcase worked to tie up loose ends and provide the NextChapter development team with everything they needed to successfully migrate Fastcase BK users. After all the information was provided Lazar Zubic, Mandy Ballinger, Danica, Aleksander Peric, Sara Taylor, and Katie Stasiulewicz worked on importing the data into NextChapter.

Both companies played a huge role in getting Fastcase users up to speed with NextChapter. Natalie Dowd and Erin Page of Fastcase helped Fastcase BK subscribers make a smooth transition over to NextChapter by answering questions on both software. While Mandy Ballinger, Katie Stasiulewicz, Megi Malushi, and Sara Taylor held personalized training webinars for Fastcase users, as well as supporting users by in-app chat, phone, and email. Both teams continue to provide elite support to former Fastcase BK subscribers.

We are happy to announce that the migration is officially completed and it was a huge success. As a part of the same family, NextChapter and Fastcase are now working together to further automate law firm workflows. Look out for a few exciting announcements in the upcoming months!
